Cardiovascular Institute of the South is one of the nation's most respected groups of cardiologists, representing nearly every specialty in heart and vascular medicine.
While most leading medical centers are located in a single facility within a large city, CIS and its staff of nearly 500 dedicated team members and
35 physicians bring comprehensive cardiovascular care close to home by serving patients in
13 locations throughout south Louisiana.
The continued growth of CIS facilities is evidence of the institute's dynamic commitment to bring quality medical services to the people of south Louisiana.

In 2003 and 2004, ribbons were cut to celebrate the opening of new, state-of-the-art Heart and Vascular Centers in
Lafayette and
Houma. In March of 2004, CIS and
Opelousas General Health System announced a partnership to include an expansion plan at the hospital with enhanced cardiovascular services.
CIS partnered with
Lane Regional Medical Center in 2006 to bring innovative cardiovascular services and a new cath lab to East
Baton Rouge Parish. An expansion of CIS
Thibodaux was completed in 2007, and construction of a newer, larger facility in
New Iberia was completed in 2008. In 2009,
CIS Raceland completed a major renovation,
CIS Zachary moved into a more innovative building, and CIS opened a practice in
Galliano in partnership with Lady of the Sea General Hospital.
In 2011, CIS opened a location in
Baton Rouge, and formed a partnership with
Lafayette General Medical Center to enhance the cardiovascular services at the hospital and provide care in
Crowley. In June of 2012, CIS opened a practice in
Breaux Bridge to bring world-class care and diagnostics to St. Martin Parish. Recently, CIS affiliated with Birmingham Heart Clinic in Birmingham, AL, to provide consulting services to the center.
In August of 2012, CIS celebrated 29 years of providing world-class care to south Louisiana, and our long-standing mission will continue to guide our expansion to more communities.
