About CISCardiovascular Institute of the South is one of the nation's most respected groups of cardiologists, representing nearly every specialty in heart and vascular medicine.

While most leading medical centers are located in a single facility within a large city, CIS and its staff of nearly 500 dedicated team members and 35 physicians bring comprehensive cardiovascular care close to home by serving patients in 14 locations throughout south Louisiana.

The continued growth of CIS facilities is evidence of the institute's dynamic commitment to bring quality medical services to the people of south Louisiana.

CIS is a world-leader in preventing, detecting, and treating cardiovascular disease. The institute offers a comprehensive heart and vascular program with specialized medical professionals trained in nuclear cardiology, electrophysiology, prevention services, and lipid management, as well as interventional cardiovascular procedures.

CIS is world-renowned for making significant advancements in the development of non-surgical treatments to treat peripheral arterial disease (PAD). By using interventional procedures to eliminate the need for amputations, CIS has been able to save limbs and lives. Because the institute is on the leading edge of technology, patients can be assured that each case is thoroughly reviewed and all available treatment options are considered.

CIS has received international acclaim as a leader of research and development by participating in clinical research trials. CIS physicians serve as clinical investigators for many new and innovative medical devices and often share their knowledge by lecturing around the country about the latest methods of treating both cardiac and peripheral arterial disease. CIS also hosts New Cardiovascular Horizons, the largest PAD conference in the nation.

Our trained physicians also diagnose and treat venous disease with minimally-invasive procedures, resulting in less pain and quicker recoveries for patients.

In August of 2013, CIS celebrated 30 years of providing world-class care to south Louisiana, and our long-standing mission will continue to guide our expansion to more communities.
