Raceland is located in Lafourche Parish, along the historical Bayou Lafourche. Lafourche Parish is home to the sugar cane, fishing and seafood industries. With a total population of 10,224, Raceland is known for its breathtaking scenery and family oriented atmosphere. Just fourteen miles north of Raceland is Nicholls State University. Nicholls is a selective admissions institution that provides solid academic programs in the fields of art, science, business administration, education, nursing, allied health, culinary and graduate studies. Ochsner St. Anne General Hospital opened its doors in 1967 to the Raceland community. It is a not-for-profit acute care facility with a total of 60 beds, which provides a growing range of high quality, cost effective emergency services, medical services, surgical care, obstetric, skilled nursing, home health care, and behavioral health services. With a service population ranging from pediatrics to adults and the geriatric population, patients are supplied with a skilled medical staff representing multiple medical professions. |

Recreation & Leisure: The Raceland Community Center offers many recreational activities including a walking track and soccer and football fields. The center provides fun and entertainment for the whole family.
Sugarland Country Club is a popular golf course located in Raceland. It is known for having a flat course, numerous trees lining its fairway, and beautiful ponds. The club also allows non-members to golf at any time.
The first American Casualty of World War II Memorial is located at the Lafourche Visitor Welcome Center in Raceland. This memorial honors Freddie John Falgoust, a native of Raceland, who was the first casualty of World War II.
Raceland is the perfect place for a scenic bayou drive along beautiful Bayou Lafourche. Shrimp boats, tug boats and other sea vessels can be seen drifting along the bayou waters through fishing communities.
