The problems of the past, such as recurrence and uncomfortable, debilitating surgery, have been solved by the inexpensive, outpatient procedure made possible with the diode laser.
Side effects are minimal and usually disappear after one week to six months. Temporary reactions can include a slight swelling of the leg or foot, minor bruising, itching, redness and moderate soreness.
Post-treatment therapy includes wearing bandages and support hose for two days to two weeks. Walking and moderate exercise can also help speed recovery. The treated blood vessels disappear over a period of six months. Sclerotherapy works for existing spider veins, but it does not prevent new ones from developing.
This remarkable laser technology virtually eliminates the need for older invasive surgical procedures. Best of all, the laser treatments are performed in our office with the patient awake and able to walk home afterwards. This technique also eliminates much of the pain bruising discomfort and complications of the surgical procedures and allows patients to return to their normal activities quickly.
