Zachary is a city located in the Baton Rouge metropolitan area in East Baton Rouge Parish. The city is increasingly transforming itself from a country town to an affluent suburb of Baton Rouge. Land prices in Zachary have increased dramatically in recent years because of this, and, as of 2006, the displacement caused by Hurricane Katrina is expected to intensify this even more as former residents of New Orleans move northward.

Zachary was the first city in Louisiana to elect a Republican as mayor.

It's easy to see why more and more people are looking to locate in what started as Zachary station between New Orleans and Memphis. Little did Darel Zachary know when he sold his farm to the railroad that one day a thriving and prosperous city would be in its place - a city where industry and agriculture can exist side-by-side. Zachary continues to grow and looks to the future by "Opening its doors for you!"
