Denise Broussard, RN Director of Nursing
Denise Broussard, RN, serves as director of nursing for Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS). A native of New Iberia, Louisiana, she received her Associate Degree in Nursing from Louisiana State University in Eunice, Louisiana and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northwestern State University in Alexandria, Louisiana. Prior to her current position, Mrs. Broussard was a registered nurse at CIS for over nine years.
Before joining CIS, Mrs. Broussard was employed as a registered nurse for AAA Home Health, where she was responsible for coordinating and managing regional health care, serving in an on-call capacity and directing LPNs and CNAs in patient care initiatives. As a registered nurse for Iberia Medical Center, she provided total patient care and served as charge nurse for the medical-surgical floor.
Mrs. Broussard is board certified in cardiovascular nursing in acute and non-acute care. In 2008, she received the CIS Mary Domangue Award, which is presented to the CIS team leader that most exemplifies the high standards of patient care, compassion and dedication, as well as carrying on the mission, vision and values held true by the staff and physicians of CIS.
In addition, Mrs. Broussard presents the Basic Cardiac Education of the CIS Orientation Program. She is also a member of the Louisiana State Nurses Association and the Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society.
