A native of Ferriday, Louisiana, Dr. Clay Hammett is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University in Ruston. He received his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans.
His extensive medical training includes internships in medical sciences, physical medicine and rehabilitation from University of Arkansas in Little Rock. He completed his internal medicine residency at Earl K. Long Medical Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Dr. Hammett obtained his cardiology fellowship at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He has conducted extensive research in his field of expertise. Following his fellowship, Dr. Hammett practiced internal medicine and cardiology for several years in north Louisiana before joining CIS in Opelousas as a cardiologist.
Dr. Hammett is board certified in cardiovascular computed tomography, nuclear technology, internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. He is a fellow in the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions. He has privileges at Opelousas General Health System, Doctors� Hospital of Opelousas, Eunice Community Hospital, The Regional Medical Center of Acadiana, Our Lady of Lourdes and Lafayette General Medical Center.
