Michael J. Marcello, MD
A resident of Lockport, Louisiana, Dr. Michael Marcello attended Maryknoll College Seminary before graduating with honors from Nicholls State University, Thibodaux, Louisiana. He served as student government senior class president and was Mr. Nicholls in 1971. Dr. Marcello received his medical degree from Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans, serving as senior class vice president. While in medical school, he conducted an Indian Health Service Externship.
He completed his residency at Earl K. Long Memorial Hospital, Family Medicine Program in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he was chosen chief resident. Dr. Marcello has served two terms as chief of staff at St. Anne General Hospital, Raceland, Louisiana, was assistant medical director at the St. Anne Behavioral Health Unit and is medical director of Raceland Manor Nursing Home.
He has held several offices with the Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians including state president for 2002. Dr. Marcello is board certified in family practice and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, a member of the Louisiana State Medical Society and Lafourche Parish Medical Society, where he has served as president, vice-president and secretary/treasurer.
He practices family medicine at the Family Doctor Clinic of Mathews and St. Anne General Hospital, Raceland, Louisiana. His commitment to the community is evident as he remains a team physician for the area junior high and high school. He has served as assistant coroner for Lafourche Parish and on the Ethics Committee for the Lafourche Parish Council government.
