Charles H. Wyatt, MD Cardiovascular/Thoracic Surgeon
Dr. Charles Wyatt, a native of Houston, Texas, received his undergraduate degree from Wesleyan University, Middletown, Connecticut, and his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas.
He completed his general surgery internship and residency from Baylor College of Medicine Affiliated Hospitals, Houston, Texas, followed by a thoracic surgery fellowship at the University of Miami Affiliated Hospitals in Miami, Florida. Following his fellowship, Dr. Wyatt stayed on as a faculty member at the University of Miami School of Medicine in the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery.
While in Miami, he was nominated for the Florida Medical Association Outstanding Volunteer Service Award for his work with the Hurricane Andrew Relief program.
Dr. Wyatt is board certified in general and thoracic surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, American College of Surgeons, American College of Cardiology and Society of Thoracic Surgeons. He is a published author of many professional articles and abstracts in his field of expertise.
He presently serves on several medical task forces for Lafayette Parish, including being the founding member of the Acadiana AED Task Force. He also serves as medical director for multiple fire departments in the region.
Dr. Wyatt's other interest are quite varied. He actively coaches ice hockey in the local youth hockey league. He is an instrument rated private pilot and currently serves on the Lafayette Regional Airport Commission. At night, he plays music with two local bands, BBC and Blue Soul.
