Dr. Murthy earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College at the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in India. He completed a residency in cardiology, diabetes and endocrinology and geriatrics at Northern General Hospital in the United Kingdom. His residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in cardiovascular disease were both completed at Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York. He also completed an interventional cardiology fellowship at Bridgeport Hospital, Yale New Haven in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
Dr. Murthy is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, nuclear cardiology, peripheral vascular ultrasound, echocardiography and interventional cardiology. He is also board certified as a registered physician in vascular interpretation and holds a certificate of Additional Qualification and Physician Certification in Wound Care. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions. He is also a member of the American Society of Echocardiography and the American Medical Association. He has authored and contributed to numerous peer-reviewed abstracts and research publications, and he is an expert reviewer for the British Medical Journal case report section.
