Dr. Charisse Ward serves as a cardiologist at Cardiovascular Institute of the South in Baton Rouge. She specializes in the diagnosis and prevention of cardiac and peripheral vascular disease. 

Dr. Ward earned her doctorate from Boston University in Massachusetts and holds a Master of Public Health from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of the Virgin Islands with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She also served honorably as a Commissioned Officer in the United States Navy for five years. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Yale University, where she also completed fellowships in general cardiology, advanced heart failure/heart transplant, peripheral vascular and interventional cardiology.

Dr. Ward previously worked as an Assistant Professor of Interventional Cardiology at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, where she focused on complex coronary revascularization and the treatment of peripheral vascular disease.

Dr. Ward is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, vascular medicine, endovascular medicine and interventional cardiology. She is a member of the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology, and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions.

She has authored an educational book entitled Peripheral Arterial Disease: A Guide for Patients and Families. She has also contributed to numerous publications, journals and presentations.

Dr. Ward also develops mobile medical applications to educate and empower patients and families to make well-informed decisions about their care.
