Our providers at Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) want to see you before you have symptoms or a life-changing cardiac event. \nCIS is hosting a free cardiovascular screening at CIS Meridian (4909 Great River Dr\, Meridian\, MS 39305) on Tuesday\, August 18th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. \nGuests will receive a complimentary Electrocardiogram (EKG) and Blood Pressure screenings. An EKG is a painless test that records the electrical signals of the heart. The screening can detect blockages\, the thickness of the heart wall\, past heart attacks and more. Results will be reviewed on site. \nRisk factors of cardiovascular disease include family history\, high cholesterol\, high blood pressure and diabetes\, as well as smoking\, being overweight or being inactive. \nRegistration is required. DESCRIPTION:CIS Zachary to host free PAD screening on September 9th. \n***REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED!!! \nIn recognition of Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) Awareness Month\, the Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) is offering a free vascular screening event open to the public. \nAttendees will receive complimentary ABI and thermal imaging screenings\, which use advanced technology to detect venous insufficiency. Screening results will be reviewed on-site by Dr. Singh. \nNOTE: Please wear shorts or pants that can be pulled up above the knee for accurate testing. \nWhy PAD Awareness Matters\nMore than 20 million Americans suffer from Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)—a circulatory condition where narrowed arteries reduce blood flow to the limbs\, often affecting the legs. If left untreated\, PAD can lead to serious complications\, including amputation and heart attack. \n\n60% of amputations in the U.S. could have been prevented with early detection and treatment.\nPAD is manageable with proper diagnosis and lifestyle or medical intervention.\n\nPAD Risk Factors Include:\n\nAge 50 and older\nSmoking (3–5x greater risk)\nDiabetes\nHigh blood pressure or cholesterol\nFamily history of vascular disease\, heart attack\, or stroke\nObesity or physical inactivity\n\nPAD Symptoms May Include:\n\nLeg pain or cramping after walking\nNumbness or coldness in the legs or feet\nSores or ulcers that won’t heal\nShiny skin\, discoloration\, or hair loss on legs\nWeak pulse in the feet\n\nThis screening will include both Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) and Thermal Imaging assessments\, with on-site interpretation by a CIS interventional cardiologist. \n🎟 Space is limited.
