Dr. Michael Gaglia, Jr. is an interventional cardiologist at the Cardiovascular Institute of the South in Harvey.

Dr. Gaglia graduated magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Arts degree in government. He earned his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he also completed a Master of Science degree in clinical research. His residency in internal medicine and pediatrics was completed at the University of Michigan Medical Center. He completed his training in Washington, DC, with fellowships in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at Washington Hospital Center and Georgetown University.

Dr. Gaglia is board certified in cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology. He specializes in the treatment of both coronary artery disease and peripheral vascular disease, with a particular focus in transradial percutaneous coronary intervention, novel antiplatelet therapy and critical limb ischemia. He is also a fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions and the American College of Cardiology. He previously served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Southern California and an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center.

In addition, Dr. Gaglia is a reviewer for numerous cardiovascular journals and an associate editor for Cardiovascular Revascularization Medicine. He has authored more than 70 peer-reviewed publications and was an editor for the textbook Antiplatelet Therapy in Cardiovascular Disease.
