CIS is First on the Gulf Coast to Use New SYNERGY MEGATRON™ Stent

Dr. Dugas MEGATRON Picture

THIBODAUX- Dr. Chad Dugas, interventional cardiologist at Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) in Thibodaux, is the first along the Louisiana and Mississippi Gulf Coast to implant Boston Scientific’s new SYNERGY MEGATRON™ coronary stent. The procedure took place at Thibodaux Regional Health System.

This stent is the first and only purpose-built stent for large proximal vessels. This design allows for optimal performance through strength, range, even support and visibility. The 12-peak stent design minimizes tissue prolapse and maintains lumen diameter. It also keeps the stent pattern intact through expansion, maintaining strength and integrity of the stent throughout the procedure.

The stent’s Platinum Chromium alloy enhances visibility to aid in more accurate stent placement, and its market-leading Everolimus drug and bio-absorbable polymer help to enable early healing. The polymer is gone shortly after the drug is completely eluted. In fact, it has a 4-month absorption time that is up to six times faster than other stents.

“This is a game changer for high-risk patients,” explained Dr. Dugas. “Its strength and ability to open the artery, along with its excellent visibility for accurate placement, allows us to deliver improved outcomes for patients.”
