Chief Financial Officer
Nickolas Zaunbrecher serves as chief financial officer for Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS). A native of Crowley, Louisiana, he brings more than 20 years of health care administration experience to the institute. He earned a Bachelor of Science in human resource management and accounting at Louisiana State University and also completed a Master of Science in healthcare administration at the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois. Zaunbrecher is also a licensed certified public accountant.
Prior to joining CIS, Zaunbrecher was employed as chief financial officer for Acute Care Hospitals as well as the chief executive officer of Meadowbrook Specialty Hospital (formerly Healthsouth) in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Zaunbrecher currently serves on the board of trustees for Regional Health System of Acadiana, which consists of Regional Medical Center of Acadiana and Women’s and Children’s Hospital. In addition, Zaunbrecher has held many titles for the Louisiana Hospital Association, including chairperson for the Long-Term Acute Care Constituency Group, member of the Legislative, Regulatory and Policy Council, and president of the Southwest District in 2006. He is a part of the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce Education Outreach Committee and also serves on community boards such as Junior Achievement and the YMCA.
Zaunbrecher was the secretary of the Lafayette Community Healthcare Consortium from 2000 to 2002. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and has been a member of the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants since 1993.
