Profile

Shannon Leonard joined Cardiovascular Institute of the South in 2011 and serves as the Chief Compliance Officer. 

Leonard is a registered nurse who holds a bachelor’s degree in health care leadership as well as a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.  Recently, he achieved his certification as a Certified Professional Compliance Officer. 

In his career, Leonard has held many nursing positions including Nurse Manager for heart cath recovery, Director of Cardiology, and Chief Nursing Officer at Florida Hospital in Orlando, Florida.  He previously served as the Director of Quality and Hospital Operations for CIS, being responsible for the cardiovascular labs at each CIS partner hospital, as well as the coordination, implementation, improvement, and successful achievement for hospital-related and medical staff quality programs.  In this position, he was also responsible for the oversight of outcomes data management, analysis and quality improvement strategies.  

In 2015, Leonard was awarded the CIS Mary Domangue Award, which is presented to the CIS team leader that most exemplifies the high standards of patient care, compassion and dedication, showing that she carries on the mission, vision and values held true by the staff and physicians of CIS.
