Dr. Smita Negi is an interventional cardiologist for Cardiovascular Institute of the South in
Lafayette.

She earned her Doctorate of Medicine in India, and she completed her internal medicine
residency at the University of Nottingham/Royal Derby Hospital in Derbyshire, United Kingdom
and at the University of Illinois in Chicago. She completed a general cardiology fellowship at the
University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. Additionally, she completed a fellowship
in prevention, atherosclerosis and vascular medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Her interventional cardiology fellowship and research was completed at Georgetown
University and Medstar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC.

Dr. Negi is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular medicine and adult
echocardiography. She has trained in invasive cardiology, interventional cardiology,
echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, vascular medicine, lipid and preventative cardiology,
advanced heart failure and cardiac electrophysiology.

Dr. Negi is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Nuclear
Cardiology, the American Heart Association and the Society of Catheterization, Angiography
and Interventions.
