Cardiologist
Dr. Samantapudi Daya is a cardiologist at Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) in Lafayette.
Dr. Daya began his medical career in the United Kingdom, serving as a Senior House Officer in Internal Medicine and Cardiology with the National Health Service. He completed his internal medicine residency at Penn State University at York Hospital in Pennsylvania, followed by a research fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. He then completed his cardiology fellowship at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston.
Prior to joining CIS, Dr. Daya worked as an ICU hospitalist at York Hospital in Pennsylvania. He later served as Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, before becoming Associate Professor of Medicine at UT Health Northeast in Tyler, where he also directed Cardio-Oncology. Most recently, he practiced cardiology in private practice at USMD Arlington in Texas.
Dr. Daya is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology, nuclear cardiology, lipidology, clinical hypertension, cardiac CT, and echocardiography. He is also a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI).
Dr. Daya is an active member of the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, and the Royal College of Physicians in London.
Throughout his career, Dr. Daya has received numerous accolades, including the Faculty of the Year Teaching Award at UT Health Northeast, Best Graduating Fellow and Best Fellow in Cardiology at UT Medical School, the Award for Scoring Highest in ECG Exam, and Best Research Poster Presentation at York Hospital’s Residents Research Day.
His clinical specialties include pulmonary hypertension, and he is Level 3 trained in nuclear cardiology with expertise in cardiac PET imaging.
