Thomas Gaines, MD
Dr. Thomas Gaines is an interventional cardiologist at Cardiovascular Institute of the South in Harvey.
Dr. Gaines graduated cum laude from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics. He earned his doctorate at Florida State University in Tallahassee. His residency in internal medicine was completed at University Medical Center in Lafayette, where he was named Internal Medicine Resident of the Year. His cardiovascular disease fellowship was completed at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, and his interventional cardiology fellowship was completed at Lenox Hill Heart and Vascular Institute in New York.
Dr. Gaines is certified in internal medicine. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology. He patented an electrocardiogram “cheat sheet” distributed by the Heart Foundation of Acadiana which was designed for use by physicians in training. He is co-published in the Journal of the Louisiana State Medical Society and the Journal of Investigative Medicine. He has also served as a guest lecturer at University Medical Center in Lafayette.
