New Iberia, LA – Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) and Iberia Medical Center (IMC) are the first in Acadiana to use the CrossFAST Integrated Microcatheter Advanced Delivery System for complex coronary and peripheral interventions. CIS interventional cardiologist Dr. Krishna Nagendran performed this procedure on December 29 at Iberia Medical Center.
Developed by Vantis Vascular, CrossFAST is a dual monorail integrated microcatheter delivery system designed for complex coronary and peripheral interventions. CrossFAST provides enhanced pushability, allowing physicians to efficiently navigate and pass through complex, calcified, and tortuous or highly curved blood vessels. The low-profile design features an atraumatic tip with a seamless catheter transition, allowing for a smooth and safe passage through target lesions.
“CrossFAST performed exceptionally in a highly calcified and tortuous artery,” said Dr. Nagendran. “Using it for the first time, we were able to deliver the stent successfully in just two minutes.”
Coronary procedures focus on restoring blood flow to the heart, while peripheral procedures treat blood vessels outside the heart, improving circulation to the arms, legs, and other vital organs.
