MERIDIAN– Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) in Meridian has been granted a three-year term of accreditation by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) in nuclear cardiology.
This accreditation demonstrates CIS’s ongoing commitment to providing high quality patient care in the field of nuclear cardiology. It acts as a “seal of approval” that patients can rely on as an indicator of consistent quality care and a dedication to continuous improvement.
To earn this accreditation, the CIS Meridian clinic was reviewed by a panel of medical experts and both technical and operational components were compliant with IAC’s national nuclear standards. The skill of the technologist performing the examination, the type of equipment used, the knowledge of the interpreting physician, and quality assurance measures are all critical to this evaluation.
Nuclear cardiology procedures are used to assess both cardiac function and blood flow to the heart muscle. By utilizing nuclear procedures, physicians are able to detect the early presence of cardiovascular disease and the potential for future heart attacks.
