CIS Offers CT Screenings to Detect Lung Cancer

HOUMA— Lung Screenings

Screening criteria include the following:

  • Age 55+
  • Smoked an average of one or more packs of cigarettes a day for 30 years
  • Current smoker or quit within the last 15 years

The exam may be covered by most major insurances and/or Medicare.  For those who do not have insurance, private pay of $300 is accepted.

CIS is designated as a lung cancer screening center by the American College of Radiology.

Risk factors of lung cancer include: smoking, exposure to secondhand smoke, radon gas or asbestos, and a family history of lung cancer.
