OPELOUSAS- Cardiovascular Institute of the South is celebrating 25 years of providing comprehensive cardiovascular care to the community of Opelousas. CIS is hosting an Open House on November 16 at 5:30 p.m. to celebrate the anniversary and welcome a fifth cardiologist to its team in Opelousas— Dr. Siby Ayalloore. This event will be held at the CIS Opelousas clinic at 1233 Wayne Gilmore Circle, Suite 450.
In line with CIS’s mission to provide the highest quality cardiovascular care available, the CIS Opelousas clinic is also now offering positron emission tomography (PET) services. The images produced through this technology are clearer and sharper, allowing CIS cardiologists to more confidently diagnose patients and choose the best treatment options for them. In addition to clearer images, PET has many benefits, including less radiation exposure for patients and faster testing.
Since 1992, CIS has offered high-quality and compassionate care, putting patients first and bringing new technologies to the area. These advanced technologies include the following:
- Endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) repair
- The world’s smallest heart pump, called the Impella, to temporarily relieve a patient’s heart from pumping, providing time needed to initiate life-saving interventions
- Transradial catheterizations
- Biotronik Zero-Gravity Suspension Radiation Protection Unit in the cardiac catheterization laboratory
