Visit any Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) location on Thursday, November 15 for the Great American Smokeout, an all-day tobacco cessation event. Our theme this year is “Tobacco Free LIFE: Get on Board with Commit to Quit.” Stop by to learn how CIS can support your quit gameplan with resources from our free cessation program, and participate in interactive displays for your chance to win various prizes.
Commit To Quit at CIS combines medical evaluations, medications (both prescription and nicotine replacement) and supportive counseling sessions (both individually and as a group). Some of these services may be available to you FREE of charge through benefits of the Louisiana Smoking Cessation Trust.
“Smoking cessation dramatically reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease, cancer and lung disease,” said Dr. Al Timothy, interventional cardiologist at Cardiovascular Institute of the South in Thibodaux. “CIS will work with you on a personalized quit plan, and the health benefits of quitting begin immediately.”
“The Smoking Cessation Trust strongly encourages everyone to help their fellow Louisianans kick the nicotine addiction,” said Mike Rogers, Chief Executive Officer of SCT Management Services. “Let’s make the Great American Smokeout the start of your journey to quitting tobacco in all its forms. Remember, the only way to not be a smoker is to not smoke—period.”
