HOUMA- Visit any Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) location on Thursday, November 21, for the Great American Smokeout, an all-day tobacco cessation event. Our theme this year is “celebration,” and each clinic will feature a different party-themed display featuring resources of the CIS Commit to Quit program as well as interactive games and prizes.
Commit To Quit at CIS combines medical evaluations, medications (both prescription and nicotine replacement), and supportive counseling sessions (both individually and as a group). Some of these services may be available to you FREE of charge through benefits of the Louisiana Smoking Cessation Trust or the State Quit Line of Mississippi.
To date, CIS has treated more than 10,000 patients for tobacco cessation and has a quit rate five times higher than the national average. Eliminating the use of tobacco dramatically reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease, cancer, and lung disease. CIS works with each patient individually on a personalized quit plan.
