February is American Heart Month and there’s no better time to consider getting a heart check up. Did you know heart disease is the leading cause of death in the U.S.? Our providers at Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) want to see you before you have symptoms or a life-changing cardiac event. Join us for one of our Heart Month screenings this February.

CIS is hosting a free cardiovascular screening at CIS Lafayette Annex Clinic on Friday, February 13th from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm.

Guests will receive a complimentary Electrocardiogram (EKG) and Blood Pressure screenings. An EKG is a painless test that records the electrical signals of the heart. The screening can detect blockages, the thickness of the heart wall, past heart attacks and more. Results will be reviewed on site.

Risk factors of cardiovascular disease include family history, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes, as well as smoking, being overweight or being inactive.
