In recognition of Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) Awareness Month, the Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) is offering a free vascular screening event open to the public.

Attendees will receive complimentary ABI and thermal imaging screenings, which use advanced technology to detect venous insufficiency. Screening results will be reviewed on-site by Dr. Singh.

NOTE: Please wear shorts or pants that can be pulled up above the knee for accurate testing.

Why PAD Awareness Matters

More than 20 million Americans suffer from Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)β€”a circulatory condition where narrowed arteries reduce blood flow to the limbs, often affecting the legs. If left untreated, PAD can lead to serious complications, including amputation and heart attack.

  • 60% of amputations in the U.S. could have been prevented with early detection and treatment.
  • PAD is manageable with proper diagnosis and lifestyle or medical intervention.

PAD Risk Factors Include:

  • Age 50 and older
  • Smoking (3–5x greater risk)
  • Diabetes
  • High blood pressure or cholesterol
  • Family history of vascular disease, heart attack, or stroke
  • Obesity or physical inactivity

PAD Symptoms May Include:

  • Leg pain or cramping after walking
  • Numbness or coldness in the legs or feet
  • Sores or ulcers that won’t heal
  • Shiny skin, discoloration, or hair loss on legs
  • Weak pulse in the feet

This screening will include both Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) and Thermal Imaging assessments, with on-site interpretation by a CIS interventional cardiologist.

🎟 Space is limited. Registration is required.πŸ‘‰ Call (985) 873-5688 to reserve your spot or for more information.
