Interventional Cardiologist
Dr. Louis Salvaggio, a native of Chalmette, Louisiana, joined Cardiovascular Institute of the South in 2012 as an interventional and structural cardiologist in Lafayette. He serves as the Medical Director of the Structural Heart Program at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Dr. Salvaggio earned his doctorate at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He completed his internal medicine residency at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Baton Rouge, where he served as Chief Medical Resident. He continued his studies at Ochsner Heart and Vascular Institute, where he completed his cardiology fellowship and served as Chief Cardiology Fellow. He also completed an interventional cardiology fellowship at Scripps Clinic in San Diego, California.
Dr. Salvaggio is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology and interventional cardiology. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the Louisiana State Medical Society, the American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. He was also named Ochsner Medical Center Fellow of the Year in 2010.
