Interventional Cardiologist
Dr. Niksad Abraham is an interventional cardiologist at Cardiovascular Institute of the South in Baton Rouge.
He attended medical school at Government Medical College in Calicut, Kerala, India. He worked as a primary care physician and hospitalist in India before moving to Newark, Delaware, where he completed an internal medicine residency at Christiana Care Health System. This is also where he completed fellowships in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology, being named Chief Fellow of interventional cardiology. In 2013, he began practicing as a cardiologist at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, Louisiana. During this time, he served as Medical Director of the cardiac catheterization lab and Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Abraham is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, echocardiology and interventional cardiology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions. He has also completed training in cardiac computed tomography angiography, nuclear cardiology and vascular ultrasound.
Dr. Abraham enjoys partaking in his favorite hobbies, such as playing cricket, and being a private pilot. He is also fluent in Hindi, Malayalam and Tamil.
